Fees and Health Insurance
We think that it’s important to be as transparent as possible about the costs of therapy. The fees do vary depending on what treatment you are having, and whether you are seeing one of our senior clinicians. Please see below for a full summary of our fees, what health insurance company policies we accept, and details about making payments.
How much do sessions cost?
clinical or counselling Psychology sessions
Your first session with us will be an assessment session.
Initial assessment cost: £200-300 for 60 minutes
In some cases a 90 minute assessment may be recommended but this will be discussed prior to booking. Assessment includes a full diagnostic assessment, formulation and treatment recommendations. We are also happy to send an assessment report to you or to your referrer if you would like.
Ongoing psychology fees: £150-250 per hour depending on which therapist you are seeing
Within The London Centre our senior clinicians have a slightly higher session fee as they have more years of experience working with eating disorders, and are likely to have a little more flexibility in their availability.
Alternatively, our Trainee Counselling Psychologists are able to offer lower cost therapy sessions, at £75 per hour (£100 per assessment). There are many benefits in having a Trainee Psychologist as a therapist. They have regular supervision with our Clinical Directors which means clients indirectly receive input from a highly experienced Clinician through the Trainee at a reduced financial rate. Therefore making therapy more affordable whilst still benefiting from the wealth and knowledge of experience given by a practicing eating disorder specialist.
Dietetic and occupational therapy
A dietetic or occupational therapy session can be booked in isolation or in conjunction with psychological treatment.
Dietetic session costs: £200-£225 for an assessment
A follow up session costs: £150-£190 and can also be booked per 30 minutes
Occupational Therapy sessions cost £185 for assessment and £135 for ongoing treatment
Family / couples therapy
The cost for the assessment is: £375 for 90 minutes
60 minute assessments can be arranged for £285.
Subsequent 50 minute sessions are charged at £190.
The frequency of these sessions will be discussed as part of your assessment, but can vary from weekly (for Family Based Therapy) to monthly.

Health Insurance
If you have health insurance and think that this may cover your treatment fees you should contact your insurance provider directly, prior to your first appointment. Your insurance provider will be able to tell you if your policy will cover your treatment with us. Some insurance companies require a GP or psychiatrist referral prior to funding sessions with a psychologist. If this is the case please feel free to contact us and we can help you organise this.
The London Centre for Eating Disorders and Body Image can offer treatment to clients covered by Aviva, Cigna, WPA and Bupa Global. If your insurance provider is not listed here, please send us an e-mail as they may still cover your treatment.
Regrettably, we are not currently able to accept BUPA, VITALITY and AXA.
Making Payments
We do require payment for an assessment 24 hours before the assessment. Once in treatment, you will be emailed an invoice on a monthly basis detailing all sessions held within that calendar month, their individual invoice numbers, appointment time and Clinician name. Please note that individual sessional invoices won’t be provided automatically but can be sent to you upon request.
Payment terms are upon receipt and within a maximum 30 day period from receipt of invoice
